Diagnosis: Incorrect modem-to-router setup sequence or physical connection issue.
- Power cycle the entire chain correctly. Unplug the power cable from your modem. If it has a battery backup, remove the battery.
- Ensure the bundled network cable is securely connecting your modem's output port to the router's WAN (Internet) port, not a LAN port.
- Power on your modem first. Wait for all its normal connection LEDs to be solid.
- Now, power on your ASUS router.
- Check the router's WAN (Internet) LED. It should turn white/blue to indicate an active connection.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: Try a different network cable between the modem and router. If you use DSL internet, you must enter the username and password from your ISP during the router's web GUI setup at http://router.asus.com.
HEADS UP: For the initial setup, a wired connection from your computer to the router's LAN port is more reliable than Wi-Fi.
