DIAGNOSIS You can and should clean it, but the anti-glare coating is delicate. Using the wrong cleaner or cloth will create permanent smudges or micro-scratches.
FIX Use only a dry, clean, lint-free microfiber cloth first.
- Power off the monitor. A black screen makes smudges and dust easier to see.
- Gently wipe the screen in a circular motion with a dry, premium microfiber cloth (like the kind for glasses or cameras). This removes most dust and fingerprints.
- For stubborn spots, dampen a second microfiber cloth with distilled water only. Wring it out completely so it's barely damp. Wipe the screen, then immediately follow with the dry cloth to buff off any moisture.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK For persistent grease, use a screen cleaner specifically formulated for matte/anti-glare monitors. Spray it directly onto the microfiber cloth, NEVER onto the screen, to prevent liquid seeping into the edges.
HEADS UP Never use window cleaners, household cleaners, paper towels, tissues, or your shirt. Alcohol, ammonia, and abrasives will permanently damage the anti-glare coating, leaving a cloudy or streaked appearance that you cannot fix.
