You can use it with a USB cable. Wireless is optional, not required for basic printing.
To set up with USB, connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable. You'll need to install the full HP printer software package, which includes the USB drivers. The easiest way is to go to 123.hp.com, enter your printer model, and download the software for your operating system. The installer will guide you through the USB connection.
Once installed, your computer should recognize the printer. You can select it as your default printer in your computer's settings. You can then print directly over USB.
If that didn't work: The software might not have installed the correct driver. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility (available from the HP support site) to automatically diagnose and fix connection issues.
Heads up: Features like Web Services, remote printing, and scan-to-cloud require an internet connection via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
