The printer isn't in a discoverable state for the app. It needs to be in wireless setup mode.
Put the printer in wireless setup mode, then try the app again.
- On the printer control panel, press and hold the Information button for 3 seconds, then release it. All the buttons will light up.
- Now, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button at the same time. The printer will restart. The Wireless button will start blinking blue. This is wireless setup mode.
- Now, on your phone or computer, make sure you're connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use.
- Open the HP Smart app. Tap the Plus icon or 'Add Printer.' The app should now detect the printer. Follow the in-app instructions to complete the connection and registration.
If that didn't work: There might be a firewall or antivirus program on your computer blocking the connection. Temporarily disable them to see if the app finds the printer. You can also run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility for Windows to troubleshoot automatically. Ensure you downloaded the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com or your device's official app store.
