Toner, dust, or paper particles have accumulated inside. Run the internal cleaning cycles.
- Print a cleaning page: Open the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS). Go to the System tab, click Service. In the 'Fuser Cleaning mode' area, click Start.
- Clean the cartridge: In the same EWS Service menu, in the 'Cartridge Cleaning Mode' area, click Start.
If that didn't work: Inspect the toner cartridge.
- Remove the cartridge and verify the sealing tape has been removed.
- Check the memory chip for damage.
- If you see any damage, replace the cartridge.
- Reinstall it and print a test page.
Also check your paper. This printer requires paper that meets HP specifications. Do not use paper that is too rough, previously printed on, or designed only for inkjet printers. Use smooth, good-quality laser paper.
