getting a tE error code on my dvg45b6300w. what does that mean and how do i clear it?

— asked by Morgan

Quick answer: tE is a temperature sensor error. The thermistor on the blower housing is reporting an illogical temperature to the main board.

Diagnosis

tE is a temperature sensor error. The thermistor on the blower housing is reporting an illogical temperature to the main board.

How to Fix It

Unplug the dryer. The thermistor is clipped into the blower housing, near the thermal fuse. Unplug its wire connector. Test its resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature, it should read around 10k ohms. If it reads open (infinite) or short (zero), it's bad. Replace part DC32-00007A.

If That Didn't Work

The wiring harness from the thermistor to the main board could be damaged. Inspect the wires for pinches or burns. If the harness is good, the main control board is faulty.

Heads Up

Don't just clear the code and run it. A faulty thermistor can cause the dryer to overheat or not heat at all. Replace the bad part.
