DIAGNOSIS Clogged hoses are a frequent issue, especially if you've vacuumed up something like cat litter or large debris. The blockage is usually lodged at a bend or connection point.
FIX Disconnect the hose from both the canister and the powerhead/wand. Take it outside if you can. First, try flexing it along its length and listening/feeling for the obstruction. Often you can work it loose. If not, use a long, flexible object like a broom handle or a dedicated vacuum hose cleaning rod (never anything sharp) to gently push the clog out from one end. You can also try using a powerful shop vac on "blow" mode at one end to dislodge it.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The clog might be in the wand, not the hose. Separate the two metal wand pieces and check the inner diameter. Also, check the suction slider mechanism on the handle—debris can jam in there and mimic a hose clog.
HEADS UP Avoid using compressed air cans from too close, and never use water or solvents to clean the interior hose. You could damage the electrical wires running inside it for the powerhead.
