how do i clean the plasma wave thing? the manual is vague and it looks gross.

DIAGNOSIS The plasma wave ionizer plates collect contaminants and need regular cleaning for performance and odor control.

FIX Unplug and remove filters. Pull out the two black plastic plasma wave units from the sides. Wash only the metal collector plates under warm water with mild dish soap. Use a soft brush. Rinse and let them air dry COMPLETELY for 24 hours. Wipe the plastic housings with a dry cloth. Reinsert.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If a burnt smell persists after cleaning, the emitter needle inside the unit may be damaged. The entire plasma wave assembly may need replacement.

HEADS UP Never put the plastic housings in water or dishwasher. Never operate the unit with wet plates. This can cause electrical shorts and ozone smell.
