Diagnosis
The surface is a melamine laminate over particleboard. Harsh chemicals or excessive moisture will damage the finish or cause the core to swell.
How to Fix It
Use a microfiber cloth dampened with only water or a diluted solution of mild dish soap (like Dawn). Wring the cloth until it is barely damp. Wipe the surface, then immediately dry it with a second clean, dry microfiber cloth.
If That Didn't Work
For stubborn stains like permanent marker, use a melamine foam eraser (Magic Eraser) very gently with water. Test in an inconspicuous area first. It will slightly dull the high-gloss finish.
Heads Up
Never use abrasive cleaners, ammonia-based glass cleaners, or solvents like acetone or alcohol. They will permanently cloud or strip the laminate finish.
