Use the physical Reset button on the router. This will wipe all settings, including your forgotten password.
- Locate the small Reset button on the back of the RT-AX86U.
- With the router powered on, press and hold the Reset button for about 5-10 seconds.
- Release when the router's Power LED starts blinking. The router will reboot with factory defaults.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: Ensure you're holding the button long enough. After reset, you'll need to set it up again. Connect via Wi-Fi to the default network (SSID: ASUS_XX, where XX is on the label) or use a wired connection to a LAN port, then go to http://router.asus.com in a browser.
HEADS UP: After reset, you must reconfigure your internet connection (you'll need your ISP username/password if you use DSL) and set a new, strong admin password immediately.
