DIAGNOSIS Standard glass cleaners or abrasive cloths can permanently damage the monitor's matte anti-glare coating, causing smears or dull spots.
FIX Use the correct materials only. First, power off the monitor and let the screen cool. Use a dry, soft microfiber cloth (like for eyeglasses or cameras) to gently wipe away dust. For fingerprints or smudges, lightly dampen a second microfiber cloth with distilled water or a monitor-specific screen cleaner. Never spray liquid directly onto the screen. Gently wipe the damp area, then immediately dry it with the dry microfiber cloth using light, circular motions.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK For stubborn marks, use a 50/50 mix of distilled white vinegar and distilled water on the cloth, not the screen. The mild acidity can break down oils without harming the coating. Test on a small corner first. Avoid all products containing ammonia, alcohol, acetone, or ethyl alcohol.
HEADS UP The anti-glare coating is delicate. Never use paper towels, tissues, coarse cloths, or window cleaner. Do not apply pressure; let the cloth do the work. Persistent streaks after cleaning usually indicate a damaged coating, not dirt.
