Yeah, this one's common. The Cartridge Policy feature might be set to block anything it doesn't deem 'authorized.' You need to check the setting in the printer's web interface.
First, open the Embedded Web Server (EWS). You can get there through the HP Smart app, or type the printer's IP address into a web browser. The default login is username 'admin' and the password is on the label inside the cartridge access door.
Once in EWS:
- Click the System tab.
- Select Supply Settings.
- Look for the Cartridge Policy drop-down menu.
- Set it to 'Authorized HP' or 'off'.
- Click Apply.
If that didn't work, the cartridge's memory chip might be damaged. Remove the cartridge and check the chip. If you see any damage, the cartridge needs to be replaced. Also, HP+ models are very strict and will not work at all with refilled or non-HP cartridges.
