DIAGNOSIS E813-0000 is a scanner unit error. The flatbed scanner carriage is stuck or has failed its startup self-test.
FIX Power cycle the printer to force a scanner reset.
- Turn the printer OFF using the power button.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer for at least 2 minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn it on. Listen for the scanner carriage to move smoothly back to its home position.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK A physical obstruction is blocking the scanner carriage. Unplug the printer, open the document feeder, and look along the scan bar (the long glass strip under the lid). Remove any sticky notes, paper bits, or debris. Gently push the white scanner carriage (under the glass) to ensure it moves freely side-to-side.
HEADS UP If this error recurs frequently, the scanner motor or position sensor is failing and requires a service technician.
