Yes, you must empty all the water out to prevent freezing and damage.
- Empty the hot water tank before storing. Place a cup on the drip tray, press and hold the brew button until all the water has been dispensed. Note: there's a 4-5 second delay before water starts.
- Store the brewer upright in a frost-free environment. If you store it in a cold place, condensation can freeze inside and cause damage.
- When you take it out of storage, wipe the hot water tank with a damp lint-free cloth and run three brew cycles without a K-Cup to cleanse the plumbing.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If the brewer has been in a below-freezing environment, let it warm to room temperature for at least 2 hours before plugging it in or trying to use it.
HEADS UP: Never store the brewer with water in it. Always unplug it before storage and cleaning.
