ice maker is running but the cubes are super thin and hollow, like shells, they melt instantly.

DIAGNOSIS This is almost always a water temperature issue. The unit uses a timed freeze cycle, and if the water coming into the freezing tray is too warm, it only freezes a thin layer before the harvest cycle kicks in.

FIX Always start with cold water. Don't pour room-temp water into the reservoir. Use water from the fridge or add ice cubes to the water reservoir to chill it down before you start the machine. Also, make sure the machine isn't sitting right next to a stove, oven, or in direct sunlight, as ambient heat affects it.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The cycle timing might be off if the machine is new or was recently reset. Sometimes you need to run it through a few complete batches (making ice, letting it melt in the basket, repeating) to let it calibrate. The first batch or two is often puny.

HEADS UP This model makes "chewy" or semi-opaque ice, not solid, clear cubes. That's normal. But they shouldn't be paper-thin. If they are, it's the water temp.
