is it safe to use my craftsman drill to mix drywall mud or paint?

— asked by Rob

No. This is not an intended use and is hazardous.

The tool is designed for drilling and driving fasteners. Using it for mixing can damage the gearbox and motor due to constant high load. More importantly, it creates a serious risk of loss of control. The sudden, uneven resistance of thick material can cause the tool to twist violently.

You must hold the tool with both hands—one on the main handle and one on the back of the battery—in anticipation of a sudden reaction. Mixing attachments are not secure in a keyless chuck under high torque and can spin loose.

Heads up: Use the correct tool for your application. Do not force the power tool. A careless action can cause severe injury in a fraction of a second.
