Diagnosis
The top heating element is running too hot, or the fan isn't distributing heat evenly. Often caused by a dirty fan shroud blocking airflow.
How to Fix It
Unplug and cool. Clean the entire interior, especially the metal heating element cover at the top. Use a soft brush to remove all carbonized grease from the element fins and the fan intake. Ensure the air intake vents on the back of the unit are not blocked.
If That Didn't Work
The temperature sensor (thermostat) may be faulty, causing the element to overheat. This requires professional diagnosis.
Heads Up
Do not overcrowd the basket. A single, even layer cooks best. For dense foods like frozen fries, lower the temperature by 25°F and add 2-3 minutes.
