my babyliss flat iron won't heat up at all, just stays cold. the power light is on but temp lights aren't.

— asked by Jordan

Quick answer: The heating element circuit is broken. The power light confirms mains voltage is present.

Diagnosis

The heating element circuit is broken. The power light confirms mains voltage is present.

How to Fix It

Unplug it. Remove the two screws on the hinge plate. Carefully lift the top plate assembly. Check the two thin ceramic heater pins where they connect to the main board. Reseat those connections. Reassemble and test.

If That Didn't Work

The internal thermal fuse on the main board has blown. This is a safety device. The board must be replaced.

Heads Up

Do not attempt to bypass the thermal fuse. It prevents fire risk if the thermostat fails.
