This typically happens because the basket is not fully seated, or there is a microscopic layer of carbonized grease and food debris preventing the basket's rear lip from depressing the internal switch. You can confirm this is the issue if the display shows your selected time and temperature, but the "Start" button remains unresponsive or triggers the beeps immediately upon being pressed. If the basket feels "loose" or doesn't have a distinct tactile "thump" when pushed in, the interlock is not engaged.
How to Fix It
To resolve the interlock failure and get the unit cooking again, follow these precise steps:
- Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and allow it to cool completely to avoid burns.
- Remove the frying basket entirely from the main housing.
- Inspect the rear edge of the basket (the part that slides into the back of the machine) for any bent metal or accumulated food crust. Use a damp microfiber cloth and a small amount of dish soap to scrub the rear lip and the corresponding slot inside the fryer cavity.
