Unplug the unit and let it cool for at least 30 minutes first. Never immerse any part of the appliance in water.
Fix: Scrub the heating element with the cleaning brush provided to remove food debris. Do not use water or liquid on the element directly.
Full cleaning steps:
- Unplug and cool completely.
- Wash basket and crisper tray with hot water, soap, and a non-abrasive sponge. Soak for stuck-on food.
- Wipe outside with a damp cloth.
- Clean the inside, including the area around the element, with a lightly dampened, non-abrasive sponge. Do not get the inside too wet.
Heads up: Clean after every use to prevent smoke and odors. Use only non-abrasive tools to avoid scratching the ceramic coating on the basket.
