First, check your potatoes and oil. Use fresh potatoes. For homemade fries, add 1/2 tablespoon of oil to the food before cooking.
Fix:
- For frozen fries: Cook at 400°F for 9-12 minutes (thin) or 11-18 minutes (thick). Shake the basket midway.
- For homemade fries: Cook at 400°F for 15-20 minutes. Shake midway. Use that 1/2 tbsp of oil.
- Make sure potato sticks are rinsed to remove starch and are dry before adding oil.
- Don't overfill the basket. Smaller batches cook more evenly.
If that didn't work: Increase the temperature. The set temperature might be too low. You can adjust in 5-degree increments up to 400°F. Also, shake or flip the ingredients midway through cooking to ensure even exposure.
Heads up: For a crispier result on snacks like nuggets, you can lightly brush on some extra oil. The appliance uses rapid air, not submerged oil.
