A blinking red light indicates a problem with the battery pack, the charger, or the power supply.
- PROBLEM PACK OR CHARGER: The battery pack is defective, too hot, too cold, or the charger has an issue.
- HOT/COLD DELAY: The battery is outside the safe temperature range for charging. Let it acclimate to room temperature.
- PROBLEM POWERLINE: The electrical supply is unstable or the extension cord is undersized.
FIX:
- Unplug the charger. Remove the battery pack.
- Inspect the battery terminals and charger cavity for foreign conductive material like metal chips or grinding dust. Clean if necessary.
- Plug the charger directly into a 120V household outlet without an extension cord. If you must use an extension cord, ensure it's the correct gauge for the length. For a 50-foot cord, use 16 AWG minimum.
- Reinsert the battery. If the light still blinks red, try a different, known-good DeWalt 20V battery.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The charger or battery is faulty. Do not operate a charger that has been dropped or damaged. Take it to an authorized service center.
