my dewalt dcd771 drill won't start at all, battery is charged, what's wrong?

— asked by Mike

Check the forward/reverse button. It's likely stuck in the lock-off position. Place the forward/reverse button in the center position to unlock the trigger.

  1. Place the forward/reverse button in the lock-off (center) position.
  2. Press the trigger switch. If it still doesn't start, proceed.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The battery pack may not be fully seated. Remove it by pressing the battery release button, then firmly re-insert it until it clicks. If the drill still doesn't start, the trigger switch or internal components may be damaged. Do not use a tool if the switch does not turn it on and off.

HEADS UP: Always ensure the switch is in the off position before connecting the battery pack. Carrying the tool with your finger on the switch invites accidents.
