my honda eu2200i generator won't start at all, just won't turn over, what's wrong?

The most likely cause is a closed fuel tank vent or a low oil level triggering the Oil Alert system.

Fix:

  1. Check the fuel filler cap. The vent lever must be in the ON position for the engine to run.
  2. Pull the starter grip once. If the engine doesn't start but the red Oil Alert indicator comes on, the engine has automatically stopped due to low oil. Check and refill the engine oil to the correct level.
  3. If oil is fine, ensure the engine switch is in the ON position.
  4. For a cold start, move the choke lever to the CLOSED position.
  5. Pull the starter grip briskly. Do not let it snap back; return it gently.

If that didn't work: Check for gasoline leaks or a very low fuel level. Also, inspect the spark plug under its maintenance cover for fouling or damage. A bad spark plug will prevent ignition.

Heads up: Always perform pre-operation checks. Look for fuel/oil leaks and check the air filter. A dirty air filter restricts airflow and makes starting difficult.
