Faint prints indicate a print density issue, often related to paper type or a needed internal cleaning.
- First, use paper that meets HP specifications for laser printers. It must be of good quality, free of dust, and not designed for inkjet use. Smooth paper yields better results.
- Run the cartridge cleaning utility. Open the Embedded Web Server (EWS). Navigate to System > Service. In the Cartridge Cleaning Mode area, click Start.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The problem may be residual contamination. Run the fuser cleaning cycle. In the same EWS menu (System > Service), in the Fuser Cleaning mode area, click Start to print a cleaning page.
HEADS UP: Do not use paper that has been previously printed on, contains metallic material, or is too rough. This directly causes poor print quality.
