Your system has a continuous drain because it can't build enough pressure to shut off. The top two causes are low incoming water pressure or a faulty automatic shut-off valve.
- First, check your water pressure. It needs to be at least 45 PSI. If it's lower, you need a booster pump.
- If pressure is good, test the shut-off valve. Fill a few glasses from the RO faucet to confirm the drain is flowing.
- Close the blue valve on top of the storage tank.
- Wait five minutes, then check the drain tube. If it stopped flowing, the valves are fine and the issue was low pressure. If it's still flowing, either the automatic shut-off valve or the check valve is defective.
- To pinpoint which one, open everything back up and let the tank fill at least partially. Close the feed water adapter valve to cut off the supply. Leave the tank valve open.
- Wait 15-30 minutes, then check the tank weight. If it emptied, the check valve is faulty.
