Specifically, the onboard sensors have detected that the water level is insufficient to fill the freezing pins for the next cycle, or the pump is unable to move water from the reservoir into the internal cooling mechanism. This prevents the machine from initiating the "filling" stage of the ice-making process to protect the compressor and pump from running dry, which would cause permanent hardware failure. This fault typically occurs for one of three reasons: the reservoir is physically low on water, there is an air lock in the internal pump system, or the intake valve is obstructed by mineral buildup (scale) or debris. You can confirm the root cause by filling the tank to the MAX line; if the E1 error persists despite a full tank, the issue is mechanical or sensor-related rather than a simple lack of water.
How to Fix It
To resolve the E1 error and restore ice production, follow these precise steps to clear the system and reset the sensors:
- Power off the unit using the power button and unplug the device from the wall outlet to discharge any remaining electrical current in the control board.
- Remove the water reservoir completely. Inspect the bottom of the tank for any cracks or leaks that might be causing water to drain before it reaches the pump.
- Locate the water intake hole at the base of the machine (where the reservoir sits). Use a flashlight to check for slime, mineral deposits, or foreign debris. Use a cotton swab dipped in white vinegar to gently clean the intake area.
- Fill the reservoir with fresh, filtered cold water exactly to the MAX line. Do not overfill, as this can occasionally confuse the pressure sensor.
- Reinsert the reservoir firmly, ensuring it is seated flush against the base.
- Plug the unit back in and press the "Reset" or "Power" button. Wait 60 seconds for the system to calibrate the water level.
- Press the "Select" button to choose your ice size and then press "Make" to initiate the cycle.
If That Didn't Work
