myLiftMaster remote works but the myQ app says 'offline' and won't connect.

Quick answer: Wi-Fi connectivity loss between the 8587w's myQ gateway and your home network. The opener has a built-in wireless radio.

Diagnosis

Wi-Fi connectivity loss between the 8587w's myQ gateway and your home network. The opener has a built-in wireless radio.

How to Fix It

Check the wireless light on the opener. It should be solid green. A blinking green light indicates a connection attempt. A solid amber light indicates a setup mode. Hold the learn button on the opener until the LED flashes amber. Use the myQ app to 'Add New Device' and re-pair the opener to your Wi-Fi network, ensuring you select the 2.4GHz band.

If That Didn't Work

Router compatibility issue. Some routers with certain security settings (WPA3, certain firewalls) block myQ. Temporarily disable advanced security features on your router's 2.4GHz network during pairing, then re-enable.

Heads Up

The 8587w myQ system does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi networks. Ensure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz band during setup.
