Diagnosis
The door position sensor (a tilt sensor inside the MyQ hub attached to the door) is misaligned or has a dead battery. It's sending incorrect angle data to the app.
How to Fix It
Recalibrate the door position sensor in the MyQ app.
- Open the MyQ app and go to the device settings for your opener.
- Find the option to 'Calibrate Door Sensor' or 'Set Door Positions'.
- Follow the in-app instructions, which will involve manually confirming when the door is fully open and fully closed.
If That Didn't Work
Replace the battery in the wireless tilt sensor (the small black box on your door). It uses a CR2032 battery. After replacing, you must remove and re-add the entire opener in the MyQ app to rediscover the sensor.
Heads Up
The tilt sensor must be mounted vertically on the inside of the garage door. If it's knocked sideways or mounted on a horizontal surface, it will never report the correct position.
