DIAGNOSIS The travel limit switch for the 'closed' position is misadjusted or the sensor on the door is faulty. The opener does not physically know where the door is.
FIX Manually adjust the down limit. Locate the adjustment screws on the side of the motor unit. With the door closed, turn the 'Down' limit screw counter-clockwise in small increments until the status light on the opener blinks once, confirming the new limit is set. Test the operation.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The problem may be the wall control panel or its wiring. A short in the wires can send false 'open' signals. Temporarily disconnect the wall panel from its terminals on the motor unit. Use a remote to operate the door and check if the MyQ status becomes accurate.
HEADS UP Do not rely on the inaccurate MyQ status for security. Readjust the limits immediately. An improperly set down limit can also cause the door to reverse before fully closing.
