Use a dry, lint-free microfiber cloth to gently wipe the interior of the clear plastic window of the LiDAR turret. Do not use glass cleaner or alcohol, as these can strip the protective coating on the lens. Perform a "Hard Reset" to clear the sensor cache: Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds until the status light flashes, then restart the unit. Clear the current map from the Ecovacs Home App. Navigate to Map Management > Select current map > Delete. This forces the robot to initiate a fresh "Quick Mapping" run without relying on corrupted previous data. Place the robot on the Omni Station, ensure it is charging, and trigger a new mapping run from a central location in your home. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Manual Turret Rotation: With the power off, very gently use your finger to nudge the LiDAR turret. It should spin freely with minimal resistance. If it feels "stuck" or makes a grinding noise, a small piece of debris (like a sewing needle or a hard piece of plastic) may be wedged in the gear. Use a pair of fine-tipped tweezers to probe the gap and remove the obstruction. Firmware Forced Update: Sometimes the LiDAR error is a result of a corrupted firmware version. Check the app for a pending update. If no update is visible, toggle the Wi-Fi off and on again on your router to force the Deebot to reconnect and check the Ecovacs server for the latest version. The "Slam" Method: In rare cases, the LiDAR motor can become momentarily unseated. While the unit is off, give the top of the LiDAR turret a few firm (but not violent) taps with the palm of your hand. This can sometimes reseat a slipped drive belt or dislodge a stubborn piece of dust from the optical sensor. Hardware Replacement: If the turret does not spin at all and you hear a constant humming sound, the internal LDS motor or the rubber drive belt has likely snapped. This requires replacing the entire LiDAR module assembly. HEADS UP Avoid placing the X1 Omni in direct, harsh sunlight for extended periods; extreme heat can warp the plastic components of the LiDAR assembly and lead to calibration errors. Never spray liquid cleaners directly onto the top of the robot; moisture entering the LiDAR turret will fog the laser lens and permanently disable the mapping function. Regularly vacuum the top of the robot with a handheld vacuum to prevent pet hair from winding around the LiDAR axis. If you have high-gloss black furniture or floor-to-ceiling mirrors, the LiDAR may occasionally misread these as "voids," causing the robot to spin; try placing a small piece of matte tape on the bottom of mirrors to help the sensor.
