ryobi p215k1 drill just stopped in the middle of a job and won't restart, no lights or anything.

This is the electronic protection system activating due to excessive load or battery overheating.

Procedure:

1. Release the trigger.
2. Remove the ONE+ 18V battery from the drill.
3. Press the battery's charge indicator button. No LED lights confirm a tripped protection state or total discharge.
4. Allow the battery and drill to sit for 15 minutes to reset and cool.
5. Reinstall the battery. Check the indicator again. Lights should now show charge level.
6. Operate the drill. Function should be restored.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If the battery shows charge (LEDs light) but the drill remains dead, the fault is in the drill. Ensure the battery is fully seated. Try a second, known-good ONE+ 18V battery. No operation with a good battery indicates a tool failure.

HEADS UP: The system disconnects power to protect the tool and battery from damage. If stoppages become frequent under normal load, service is required.
