the air fry basket handle is stuck/won't slide into the rack, it just jams

— asked by Jordan

DIAGNOSIS This is almost always a simple alignment issue. The basket's wire handle needs to slot perfectly into the grooves on the dedicated rack. If the rack is slightly warped from heat or the basket is loaded unevenly, it binds.

FIX Don't force it. Take everything out. Look at the sliding channels on the rack. Make sure they're clean and not bent. Insert the basket handle into the rack *first*, before you put any food in it, to ensure it's aligned. Then place the rack+basket combo into the oven.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The coating on the rack's wires can chip or build up with carbonized grease, creating rough spots. Lightly sand those sliding channels with fine-grit sandpaper (like 220 grit) to smooth them out, then wipe clean.

HEADS UP Never use the air fry basket without its dedicated rack. Placing it directly on a different rack or the tray will block airflow completely, ruin performance, and is a fire risk because it's sitting right on the bottom heating element.
