Diagnosis
The auto-tracking sensitivity and rules aren't set up for your specific scene. By default, it might be trying to track everything (cars, animals, shadows) or its detection zone is too large/confusing.
How to Fix It
Open the camera's settings in the Reolink app or client. Go to Alarm > Motion Detection. First, draw a precise "Detection Zone" covering only the area where you want tracking (like your walkway, not the street). Then, under "Alarm Schedule," set it to 24/7. Most importantly, in "Smart Detection," select only "Person" and/or "Vehicle" based on what you want it to follow. Uncheck "Any Motion." Adjust the sensitivity slider to around 70.
If That Didn't Work
The camera might be mounted too high or at a bad angle. For optimal person detection, it should be between 7-10 feet high, angled slightly downward. If it's looking straight out or too high, it loses the critical top-down view of a human shape that the AI uses.
Heads Up
Auto-tracking works best when the subject enters the frame, pauses for a second, then moves. A car whipping by at 40mph might trigger it but be lost before the PTZ mechanics can engage. It's designed for slower, deliberate movement within its field of view.
