How to Fix It
To restore the stability of the auxiliary handle, you must perform a deep clean and a mechanical reset of the clamping tension. Follow these steps precisely:
- Unscrew the auxiliary handle completely by rotating the locking collar counter-clockwise until it slides off the tool neck.
- Use a stiff stainless steel wire brush to scrub the circumference of the tool's neck. Focus specifically on the serrated grooves where the handle grips. You must remove all compacted concrete dust and any oil or grease that may have migrated there.

- Apply High-Friction Grip Tape: For a field-fix, wrap a single, tight layer of thin rubberized grip tape or a small strip of sandpaper (grit side facing the handle) around the tool neck before sliding the handle on. This increases the diameter slightly and provides a high-friction interface that prevents rotation.
- Verify Collar Thread Integrity: Inspect the threads on the locking collar. If the threads are stripped or cross-threaded, the collar may feel tight but isn't actually compressing the grip ring against the neck. If you can spin the collar indefinitely without it tightening, the internal threading of the handle is failed and the entire unit must be replaced.
