DIAGNOSIS The internal backup capacitor on the control board is dead or failing. This capacitor maintains the clock memory during brief power interruptions.
FIX The unit must be disassembled to access the main control board. Locate the small cylindrical capacitor near the microprocessor, typically rated 5.5V 0.1F. Desolder the old capacitor. Solder in a new, identical supercapacitor. Reassemble.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The issue could be a cold solder joint on the capacitor's connections or a fault in the microcontroller itself. Visually inspect the board for cracked solder.
HEADS UP While the clock resets, all programmed auto-brew settings are also lost. This is a common failure point in older units of this model.
