the colors on my LG 27UL500 look weird and washed out, how do i fix this?

Incorrect picture mode or a specific feature is active. Check these settings in the monitor's On-Screen Display (OSD).

  • Press the joystick button to open the OSD.
  • Navigate to Picture.
  • Set Picture Mode to 'Custom' or 'sRGB' for accurate color. Avoid 'Vivid' or 'HDR Effect' for normal use.
  • Ensure Color Calibrated mode is set to On.
  • Check if Reader Mode or Color Weakness mode is activated. If so, turn them Off.
  • Verify Black Stabilizer is set to 50 (default). A high value washes out shadows.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The issue may be at the source. Check your computer's graphics control panel (NVIDIA Control Panel, AMD Radeon Software, or Windows Display Settings) and ensure color output is set to Full Range (0-255) and not Limited Range (16-235). Also, ensure the monitor's sRGB gamut coverage (95% min, 98% typ) is being utilized by your software.
