Diagnosis
The default sound mode and level settings aren't optimized for your room or content. The 'Clear Voice' setting alone isn't enough if the bass is overpowering.
How to Fix It
Adjust three settings in this sequence for immediate improvement.
1. On the remote, press the 'Bass Extension' button until the display shows 'Bass Ex Off'. This tames the overwhelming low frequencies that mask voices.
2. Press the 'Sound Mode' button to cycle to '3D Surround'. This mode often provides better vocal clarity than 'Standard' for movie content.
3. Now, adjust the individual levels. Press and hold the 'Volume -' and 'Program' buttons on the remote simultaneously for 3 seconds to enter Level Adjustment mode. Use the 'Volume +' button to increase the 'Center' level (which handles dialogue) to between +4 and +6.
If That Didn't Work
The source audio might be the issue. Check if your streaming service or Blu-ray player has its own audio settings. Set the output to 'Stereo' or 'PCM' as a test—this often compresses the dynamic range, making dialogue more consistent with effects.
Heads Up
Avoid using the 'Movie' sound mode if dialogue is already muddy; it emphasizes surround effects which can further decentralize vocal tracks. Stick with '3D Surround' or 'Standard' after making the level adjustments above.
