the display on my apca14yzmw keeps flashing 'p1' and it shuts off after a few minutes, what is that?

DIAGNOSIS Error code P1 indicates a "Drain Full" condition. The internal condensate reservoir has reached its limit. The unit shuts off to prevent water overflow.

FIX You must manually drain the unit. Locate the drain plug on the back or bottom of the chassis. Place a shallow pan under it. Remove the plug and let all water drain out. Replace the plug securely. The P1 code should clear when you restart the unit. For longer operation, consider using the continuous drain hose. Connect it to the drain port and route it to a floor drain.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the P1 code returns quickly despite an empty reservoir, the float sensor inside the drain pan is stuck. Tilt the unit gently from side to side to free the float. If the code persists, the sensor may be faulty and require replacement.

HEADS UP The frequency of P1 errors increases in high humidity. In humid climates, using the continuous drain option from the start is necessary for uninterrupted cooling.
