the labels are printing super faint and smudgy, like the ink is running out but it's thermal so there is no ink?

DIAGNOSIS You're using the wrong label material. The JADENS is a direct thermal printer—it requires heat-sensitive labels, not inkjet or laser sticker paper.

FIX Immediately check your label rolls. You need 4x6 direct thermal labels (sometimes called "thermal transfer" labels are wrong). 1. Order the correct 4x6 direct thermal labels. 2. In your shipping app's printer settings, ensure the print density/darkness is set to maximum. 3. Clean the printer's thermal head with the included alcohol swab or a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol, with the printer OFF.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If labels are still faint with correct material and max density, the thermal print head may be failing or there's a firmware issue. Contact JADENS support—they may walk you through a firmware update via their app.

HEADS UP Never use labels with a glossy or coated finish meant for inkjet printers. The heat from the thermal head will melt the coating and create a permanent, gummy residue on the print head that ruins it.
