the lights on my genie 550 flash 10 times and it won't respond to any commands

DIAGNOSIS Ten flashes indicates a 'Safety Reverse Sensor Obstructed' error. The opener's logic has detected a persistent fault in the safety sensor circuit.

FIX Check the wiring between the two sensor units and the motor unit. Look for cuts, pinches, or loose connections at the terminal block on the back of the motor unit. Ensure the wires are fully seated in the 'SEE' and 'SBE' terminals. Reset the opener by unplugging it for 10 seconds. The 10-flash error often clears after a hard power cycle if the wiring fault is intermittent.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK One of the safety sensors may have failed. Temporarily disconnect both sensors from the back of the motor unit and connect their two wires directly together with a wire nut. If the error clears, one of the sensors is defective and needs replacement.

HEADS UP Bypassing the sensors is for diagnostic purposes only. Do not operate the door regularly with sensors bypassed, as it will not reverse on obstruction.
