Diagnosis
The non-stick coating on your Emeril Lagasse Power Air Fryer 360 pot has suffered a mechanical failure, likely due to abrasive scrubbing, overheating, or the use of metal utensils. Once the coating begins to flake or peel, it is no longer food-safe. Small fragments of the polymer coating can contaminate your meals, and the exposed base metal is prone to oxidation and corrosion, which can further degrade the integrity of the pot and affect the flavor of your food.
How to Fix It
You must replace the cooking pot immediately; there is no safe way to "patch" or recoat a non-stick surface.
- Purchase a genuine replacement 9-quart pot assembly (Part Number: 90000-00067).
- Before using the new pot, wash it with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge.
- To preserve the new coating, switch exclusively to silicone or wooden utensils.
- Avoid using aerosol cooking sprays containing lecithin, as these can create a sticky residue that burns and peels the coating over time; use a brush to apply oil instead.
If That Didn't Work
If you find that your replacement pot is peeling prematurely, audit your cleaning and cooking habits:
- Stop using the dishwasher: High-heat drying cycles and harsh dishwasher detergents (specifically those with citric acid) chemically strip non-stick coatings. Hand-wash only.
- Avoid Thermal Shock: Do not plunge a hot pot into cold water. Let the pot cool naturally to room temperature before washing to prevent the coating from cracking.
- Temperature Control: Avoid running the air fryer at maximum temperature for extended periods if the pot is empty, as this can overheat the surface.
Heads Up
Never operate the air fryer without the pot securely seated in the base. The heating elements are designed to radiate heat into the pot; without it, the unit can overheat rapidly, potentially triggering a thermal fuse or melting internal plastic components.
