the osd sidekick software won't detect my monitor, it just says please connect a supported device

Quick answer: The OSD Sidekick software cannot establish communication with the monitor over USB. This is a connection or driver issue.

Diagnosis

The OSD Sidekick software cannot establish communication with the monitor over USB. This is a connection or driver issue.

How to Fix It

Confirm the monitor's USB upstream connection. Connect the included USB-B to USB-A cable from the monitor's USB Upstream port to a USB port on your PC. The monitor must be connected via this cable for the software to work, even if you are using DisplayPort for video. Restart the OSD Sidekick software after making this connection.

If That Didn't Work

Uninstall the OSD Sidekick software. Download the latest version directly from the Gigabyte M27Q X support page. Before reinstalling, go to Windows Device Manager, expand "Monitors," right-click on "Gigabyte M27Q X," and select "Uninstall device." Check "Delete the driver software for this device" and restart your PC. Then install the fresh OSD Sidekick software.

Heads Up

The software requires the monitor to be in a normal operating mode, not in standby. Wake the monitor and ensure it is displaying an image before launching the software. Some motherboard USB ports may not provide consistent data power in sleep states; use a main rear I/O port.
