the 'place cup' light on my keurig keeps flashing even with a cup there, won't brew.

— asked by Tyler

The cup sensor does not detect clear, glass mugs.

FIX: Use a 10 oz ceramic coffee cup. Do not use a clear, glass mug. The sensor relies on an opaque material.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK:

  • Ensure the cup is placed directly on the drip tray plate, centered in the dispense area.
  • Check that the drip tray assembly is fully inserted and level. If it's tilted or out of position, the sensor may be obstructed.
  • Clean the drip tray plate and the area around the cup sensors with a dry, lint-free cloth.

HEADS UP: The cup sensor is a safety feature to prevent brewing without a cup present. The brewer will shut off automatically if it doesn't detect a cup.
