the red brush roll light on my bissell 24613 is on solid and the brush won't spin at all

DIAGNOSIS Brush roll jam or obstruction. The solid red light indicates a mechanical blockage.

FIX Unplug. Flip vacuum over. Manually rotate brush roll with your hand. Feel for resistance. Remove bottom plate to access roll. Cut away all hair and string wound around ends and bearings. Reassemble. Light should be off.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The drive belt is broken or has slipped off the motor pulley. Inspect belt under bottom plate. Replace belt Part Number 1610693 if stretched or snapped.

HEADS UP Cut hair/string monthly. Letting it build up burns out the brush roll motor.
