Diagnosis
The Honeywell Home T10 Pro is experiencing a "Permanent Hold" state, which creates a software override that halts all synchronization between the Resideo app and the thermostat's internal logic. This typically happens when a user manually adjusts the temperature on the physical touch screen or via the app and selects "Hold Until" or "Permanent Hold" instead of a temporary override. Once this state is active, the device ignores all upcoming setpoints in the schedule to maintain the current temperature indefinitely. You can confirm this is the issue by looking at the main dashboard of the T10 Pro. If you see the word "Hold" or "Permanent Hold" displayed prominently near the current temperature reading, the device has intentionally disconnected from its programmed schedule. This is not a connectivity or Wi-Fi failure, but a priority setting where the manual input is given precedence over the automated cloud-synced schedule.
How to Fix It
To force the T10 Pro to resume its scheduled programming and sync with your app settings, follow these precise steps:
- Wake the thermostat screen by tapping anywhere on the glass display.
- Locate the status bar at the bottom of the main screen. You will see the current mode (e.g., Heat, Cool, or Auto) and the hold status.
- Tap directly on the text that says "Permanent Hold" or "Hold Until".
- A selection menu will appear on the screen. Tap the option labeled "Run Schedule".
- Wait 3-5 seconds for the screen to refresh. The "Hold" text should disappear, and the screen should now display the "Next Scheduled Change" time and temperature.
- Open the Resideo app on your smartphone and swipe down to refresh the home screen to ensure the app now reflects that the system is "Following Schedule."
If That Didn't Work
- Perform a Hard Power Cycle: Remove the T10 Pro from its wall plate by pulling it straight toward you. Wait 60 full seconds to clear the volatile memory (RAM) of the device, then snap it back onto the UWP mounting system. This forces the thermostat to re-handshake with the Honeywell Home cloud servers and pull the latest schedule.
- Check for "Vacation Mode" Conflicts: Open the app and navigate to the 'Vacation' settings. If a vacation period is currently active, it overrides all standard schedules regardless of whether a "Hold" is active. Ensure the vacation mode is toggled "Off" and that no future dates are blocked out.
- Verify Wi-Fi Signal Strength: If the schedule was changed in the app but never reached the device, check the Wi-Fi signal on the thermostat. Go to Menu > Device Settings > Wi-Fi. If the signal strength is below 60%, the device may fail to receive the "push" notification of a schedule update. Restart your router to clear any IP conflicts.
- Reset the Schedule Logic: In the app, delete one of the time periods in your schedule (e.g., the 'Wake' period) and save it. Then, immediately add it back. This "dirty write" forces the cloud server to send a fresh data packet to the T10 Pro, overriding any stuck internal logic.
Heads Up
- Avoid "Hold Until": When making a temporary change, always select "Hold Until" with a specific time rather than "Permanent Hold" to prevent the schedule from stopping entirely.
- C-Wire Stability: Ensure your C-wire (Common wire) is securely seated in the R+ and C terminals. Intermittent power fluctuations can cause the T10 Pro to reboot into a default "Hold" state to protect the HVAC system.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check for firmware updates in the app. Honeywell frequently releases patches for the T10 Pro to resolve synchronization lags between the cloud and the local hardware.
- Avoid Rapid Changes: Do not change the schedule in the app and immediately adjust the physical thermostat. This can create a "race condition" where the device gets confused about which command takes priority, often defaulting to a Permanent Hold.
