Diagnosis
A wobbly stand on your Amazon Basics monitor is almost always caused by one of two issues: an incomplete or misaligned assembly where the components aren't fully locked, or a minor but correctable imbalance. It's unlikely you assembled it "wrong," but the connection may not be fully seated.
How to Fix It
To secure the stand, follow these steps carefully:
- Power off the monitor and place it face-down on a soft, stable cloth on a table.
- Check the connection between the round support base and the vertical support arm. Ensure the arm is pushed straight down onto the base's post until it sits flush with no gap.
- Focus on the main connection: the top of the support arm slides upward into the monitor's rear slot. Apply firm, even pressure upward until you hear and feel a distinct "click." This is the locking mechanism engaging.
- Lift the monitor upright and test stability. Gently try to wiggle it side-to-side and front-to-back. A properly attached stand should have minimal, rigid movement.
If That Didn't Work
If you heard the click but the wobble persists, try these checks:
- Ensure the monitor is on a perfectly level surface. An uneven desk can cause wobble.
- Inspect the plastic components for any visible cracks, defects, or debris in the connection slots that might prevent a tight fit.
- Tighten the included thumbscrew (if your model has one) located at the neck joint, as it can sometimes loosen.
- If the wobble seems to come from the monitor's panel itself relative to the back casing, the internal VESA plate may be loose, which requires contacting support.
