DIAGNOSIS This is almost always a dirty screen or a software glitch causing phantom touches. Even a tiny, invisible smudge can confuse the capacitive sensor.
FIX First, do a full reboot by unplugging for 30 seconds. If that doesn't clear a software hiccup, power it off completely using the switch in the Settings menu. Then, clean the screen thoroughly but gently with a dry microfiber cloth, making sure to get the edges.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Check if you have a screen protector on it. Some third-party protectors can interfere with the touch sensitivity. Remove it and see if the problem stops. Also, make sure the device isn't in direct, hot sunlight, which can affect the screen.
HEADS UP If the ghost touching persists after a clean screen and reboot, it could be a failing digitizer. That's a hardware fault, and you'd need to contact Amazon support.
