water is leaking from my breville bambino plus around the portafilter when i pull a shot. help?

— asked by Sam

The portafilter isn't sealed correctly in the group head. Fix this first:

  • Ensure the portafilter is completely inserted and rotated until you feel firm resistance. The handle should be centered.
  • Clean any coffee grounds from the rim of the filter basket before inserting it. Even a few grounds can break the seal.
  • You may be overfilling the basket. Lower your coffee dose and use the Razor™ tool to trim after tamping.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If water is leaking into the drip tray immediately after steaming, that's normal. The auto-purge feature releases water to keep the thermocoil at optimal temperature. Just ensure the drip tray is firmly pushed in place.

HEADS UP: Never remove the portafilter during the brewing process. Always ensure it's firmly secured before starting the extraction.
