Diagnosis
The Dyson Purifier Cool TP07 does not use a physical sensor to detect the presence of a filter; instead, it relies on a software-based timer and a calculated usage algorithm based on fan speed and air quality. When you install a new filter, the machine does not "know" the old one has been removed. It continues to track the cumulative runtime of the previous filter until a manual reset command is sent to the onboard logic board. If you have already attempted a reset and the alert persists, the issue is likely a communication failure between the remote and the machine, or the use of a third-party "generic" filter. While the TP07 doesn't use RFID chips for filter verification in the same way some high-end vacuum heads do, the machine's internal clock requires a specific signal sequence to clear the "Replace Filter" notification. If the remote battery is low or the infrared (IR) signal is blocked, the reset command will not trigger, leaving the alert active on the LCD screen.
How to Fix It
To properly clear the filter alert and reset the countdown to 100%, follow this exact sequence:
- Power the machine ON using the main power button on the chassis or the remote. The display must be active for the reset to register.
- Point the remote control directly at the LCD display on the front of the TP07. Ensure there are no obstructions (like a plastic wrap or furniture) between the remote and the machine.
- Locate the "Reset" button on the remote. On the TP07 remote, this is typically the button with the circular arrow/refresh symbol (sometimes mistaken for a WiFi or settings icon).
- Press and hold this button firmly for a full 5 to 10 seconds. Do not release it until you hear an audible "beep" from the machine or see the display screen flash.
- Check the MyDyson app or the onboard LCD. The filter life indicator should now show 100% or the "Replace Filter" message should have vanished.
If That Didn't Work
- Perform a Hard Power Cycle: Unplug the TP07 from the wall outlet entirely. Leave it unplugged for at least 10 minutes to allow the internal capacitors to discharge. Plug it back in and attempt the remote reset again. This clears temporary glitches in the volatile memory.
- Check Remote Battery Voltage: If the remote battery is dying, it may have enough power to turn the machine on but not enough to send the sustained signal required for a 5-second hold. Replace the CR2032 coin cell battery and retry the reset procedure.
- App-Based Override: If the remote is unresponsive, open the MyDyson app on your smartphone. Navigate to the "Machine Settings" or "Filter Life" section. Some firmware versions allow you to trigger a manual reset directly from the app interface, bypassing the physical remote.
- Verify Filter Seating: Ensure the filter is clicked fully into place. While it won't trigger the "Replace" alert, a poorly seated filter can cause the machine to detect an airflow restriction, which the machine may misinterpret as a clogged filter, triggering the alert again shortly after a reset.
Heads Up
- Avoid Generic Filters: Third-party filters often have slightly different dimensions or air permeability. This can cause the TP07 to ramp up the motor speed to maintain airflow, which may accelerate the timer and cause the "Replace Filter" alert to appear sooner than the standard 12-month cycle.
- Clean the Pre-Filter: Every 3 months, use a vacuum with a brush attachment to gently clean the exterior of the HEPA filter. Removing large dust clumps prevents the motor from overworking and extends the actual life of the filter.
- Avoid Water: Never wash the HEPA filter under a tap. These are non-washable materials; getting them wet will destroy the electrostatic charge and the structural integrity of the fibers, rendering the purifier useless.
- Firmware Updates: Ensure your TP07 is connected to WiFi. Dyson frequently pushes firmware updates that calibrate the filter life algorithm to be more accurate based on your specific environment's pollution levels.
